Thanks for stopping by, my name is Paula Dunn and I’m the founder of No Limits Consulting. Let me share my personal story about who I am and what I stand for.
“Adversity introduces a man to himself”
– Albert Einstein
I was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate and growing up, I knew that I was different from everyone else in the physical sense. Throughout my childhood and into the cusp of adulthood I was bullied. I was verbally, physically, and emotionally abused by the kids at school whilst the teachers looked on.
Home life was challenging, growing up with a domineering narcissistic father who had anger management issues and many deep seeded personal issues that never were resolved but would manifest as trigger points in particular after the consumption of alcohol. Over the years his triggers became more frequent and his behaviour more erratic.
Growing up wasn’t easy, however, it did teach me many things about myself as well as human behaviour, such as, the power of the human spirit, overcoming adversity and building resilience and never giving up, which has shaped me into the woman I am today.
Throughout my years into adulthood, I didn’t feel that who I was today, was ever good enough and that I was living in my “true self”. Various common themes kept popping up in
my life through life’s experiences that showed me that building self-confidence, self-love and acceptance was needed to make me complete. And so, my journey for self-discovery began on a deeper and more poignant level.
Over the past 16 years, I’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars on self-development courses, working with counsellors and psychologists outside of work as I wanted to develop myself to reach my full potential and not let any limiting beliefs or past experiences in life hold me back, as I knew that God has put me on this earth to make a difference in the world and I wanted to rise to the occasion.
I thought that if I was “Perfect, Successful, Career Driven and Financially Secure” this would make me whole. On the surface, I came across as being confident, secure and down to earth. This impacted on my life on various levels, in romantic relationships, my health and within my career. This led to feelings of anxiety, depression and burn out.
I love solving problems and creating solutions, it was my sweet spot. Despite how I started out in life, I still love working with people and enjoy that I’m making a difference in the world. I think from what I endured growing up makes me a more rounded person that is able to understand the realities of life and how to navigate these minefields to achieve greatness!
Over the past several years I’ve moved into the Life Coaching Space as a “Limited Edition Leadership Coach”. Integrating my Life Experience, work experience and credentials have given me the holistic tools and techniques to assist others like I’ve assisted myself, to create a life with no limits.
